Who is this service for?

The Specialist Falls Service is for anyone over the age of 18 who has fallen and is at risk of further falls. It also supports other healthcare professionals and public groups with falls training, education, advice and guidance.

What we do

The Specialist Falls Service is a Team of nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, rehabilitation support workers and administrators.
We follow the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines to offer comprehensive falls assessment in clinics across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

The Team delivers a range of evidence-based interventions that reduce the risk of future falls.

How do I access this service?

Referrals into the service are made by a health care professional. If you would like a referral for a falls assessment, please complete the first pages of the Falls Awareness Bundle and take your answers to your GP or healthcare professional to request a Comprehensive Falls Assessment.

While you are waiting for an assessment, there are some simple exercises that can be done. This set of six seated exercises promote daily activity: Start Today Exercise Programme (STEP).

You can contact our service to request any of this information in different formats.

Waiting times

We work hard as a service to keep waiting times to a minimum, however there will always be a waiting time for assessment as we are a non-urgent service.

Waiting times for this service are available on our waiting times page.

I’m a clinician – how do I make a referral to this service?
