Digital Stories – Key Information

Communication Team

What Are Digital Stories?

A digital story is a short film that combines different forms of media to share a real-life experience. Digital stories allow people to tell their story in their own words and can be a powerful way to communicate experiences, emotions and learning.

Digital stories typically:

  • Last between 2 and 5 minutes
  • Use a combination of photographs, drawings, images, music and audio recordings
  • Focus on a person’s lived experience
  • Can be shared anonymously if preferred

Digital storytelling is widely used across healthcare, education and community services to help organisations understand experiences and improve services.

Who Can Tell Their Story?

Anyone with experience of using Sirona services can share their story, including:

  • Patients
  • Family members
  • Carers
  • People who support someone using our services

We welcome stories from a wide range of people and experiences. The process is simple, supportive and designed to help people feel comfortable sharing their experiences.

Why Share Your Story?

Your experiences can help improve services for others and ensure that people’s voices are heard.

Sharing your story can:

  • Help improve services and patient experiences
  • Highlight examples of excellent care and support
  • Identify opportunities for learning and improvement
  • Support personal recovery and wellbeing
  • Help people feel empowered by sharing their experiences

Every story provides valuable insight that can contribute to positive change.

How Is a Digital Story Created?

Creating a digital story is a straightforward process.

We record your voice and then combine it with images and other visual elements to create a short digital story.

Stories can be recorded:

  • In a virtual meeting using Microsoft Teams or Zoom
  • Over the telephone
  • In person using a recording microphone

Following the recording, photographs or images can be added to help illustrate your experience. These may be supplied by you or selected with your agreement.

Your Choice and Privacy

You remain in control of your story throughout the process.

You can choose to:

  • Remain anonymous
  • Decide how your story is shared
  • Review the story before it is used
  • Withdraw your consent if you change your mind

Sharing your story will not affect the care or support you receive from Sirona care & health.

Your story will not be shared without your permission.
