Help Us Help You at Home
Working Together to Provide Safe and Effective Care
When receiving care at home, working together helps ensure you receive the best possible support. This guide explains what you can expect from Sirona staff during home visits and how you can help us provide safe, effective and respectful care.
What You Can Expect From Us
As a not-for-profit organisation, our priority is caring for you.
Our staff will:
- Assess your needs with your consent
- Work with you to develop a personalised care plan
- Support you to manage your health as independently as possible
- Treat you with dignity, respect and compassion
- Use mobile devices, tablets and laptops only for work purposes
- Access medical records securely when required to support your care
We will discharge you from our service once your planned treatment is complete or if another service is better suited to meet your needs.
Visiting Times
We understand that appointment times are important.
While we will always try to visit at your preferred time, this may not always be possible as we need to prioritise people with the greatest clinical need.
Please let us know if:
- You have a hospital appointment
- Your circumstances change
- You are unavailable for a planned visit
This helps us plan our services effectively.
Respecting Our Staff
We are committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for everyone.
Sirona has a zero-tolerance approach to:
- Violence
- Aggressive behaviour
- Threatening behaviour
- Racism
- Verbal, physical or psychological abuse
All staff deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.
Access to Your Home
If you have a key safe or another safe method of entry, you may choose to share these details with us.
Any information provided will be treated confidentially.
If we are unable to gain access during a planned visit, we may contact you or a family member to check on your wellbeing and safety.
Managing Prescriptions
Please take responsibility for ordering your own prescriptions where possible.
If you need support or advice about prescriptions, contact your GP surgery for assistance.
How You Can Support Our Staff
There are several simple ways you can help us provide care safely and effectively.
Please:
- Follow infection prevention and control advice
- Provide a clear and safe working space
- Avoid smoking or vaping during visits
- Keep pets in a separate room where possible
- Ensure safe access to your property
- Avoid being under the influence of alcohol or drugs during visits
- Minimise distractions during clinical procedures or medication administration
- Respect staff privacy by not recording or photographing staff without permission
These measures help create a safe environment for both you and our staff.
Changing an Appointment
Please contact us if you need to:
- Change an appointment
- Request an urgent visit
- Arrange a new referral following discharge
Keeping us informed helps us provide timely care and support.
