Mental Health Support for Adults

Looking after your mental health is just as important as looking after your physical health. Whether you’re feeling stressed, anxious, low, overwhelmed or experiencing a mental health crisis, there are a range of local and national services available to provide advice, emotional support and urgent help when you need it.


If You Need Urgent Help

If you, or someone you know, is experiencing a mental health crisis and you feel unsafe, are thinking about harming yourself, or believe suicide is the only option, seek immediate help.

  • Call 999 or attend your nearest Emergency Department in an emergency.
  • If it is not a life-threatening emergency, call NHS 111 and select the Mental Health option.

24/7 Crisis Support

Bristol Mental Health Crisis Line

Available 24 hours a day for people experiencing a mental health crisis, as well as family members, friends and healthcare professionals.

Samaritans

Provides free emotional support to anyone experiencing distress.

Suicide Prevention Bristol

Provides telephone support, social media support and community outreach.

Local Mental Health Support

NHS Talking Therapies (Let’s Talk – Vita Health Group)

Support for common mental health problems, including anxiety, stress and depression.

  • Self-referral available.
  • Opening hours:
    • Monday–Wednesday: 8am–8pm
    • Thursday–Friday: 8am–5pm

Bristol MindLine

Confidential emotional support.

  • Open Wednesday to Sunday, 7pm–11pm

National Support Organisations

Minor Injury Units and Urgent Treatment Centres

Sirona’s Minor Injury Units and Urgent Treatment Centres provide care for minor injuries and illnesses without an appointment.

Locations include:

  • North Somerset Minor Injury Unit
  • South Bristol Urgent Treatment Centre
  • Yate Minor Injury Unit

These services are not suitable for life-threatening emergencies.
