Welcome to Extended Hours at Yate Minor Injuries Unit

By 15th April 2019No Comments

Yate’s Minor Injuries Unit in the West Gate Centre will be open 12 hours a day, seven days a week from today –  15 April –  making it even easier for people to access fast, walk-in treatment for minor injuries such as cuts, sprains and broken bones.

The unit run by Sirona care & health, which treats adults and children, is open from to 8am to 8pm on weekdays and weekends, including bank holidays.

The extended hours are part of a range of measures to improve urgent care services in the local area, which also include extended GP opening hours and enhanced self-care advice from community pharmacies. The move also follows extensive engagement with local people who have said they wanted the Unit open longer.

The extended opening will also help to relieve pressure on local A&E services by making it easier for local people to access urgent care treatment closer to home.

X-ray services provided by North Bristol NHS Trust will also be available seven days a week, including bank holidays, initially for a slightly shorter day covering busier periods. Individuals will also be able to attend the unit for a GP-referred X-ray on Saturdays or Sundays.

Posters promoting the extended hours are being distributed through a range of NHS, local authority and community locations.

More information about the service is available here.
