Residential services in Bath and North East Somerset

By 21st January 2020No Comments

Three Community Resource Centres (residential services) and five Extra Care services in Bath and North East Somerset are to be run by the Council from later this year.

Sirona care & health gave the Council 12 months’ notice to terminate its contract to run the services at three Community Resource Centres and five Extra Care facilities in September as the on-going provision was financially unsustainable for the not-for-profit social enterprise.

Today’s announcement has been shared with residents, tenants and staff. The decision does not impact the high quality care provided to residents and tenants, or affect jobs for Sirona’s staff and no centres are being closed.

In a joint statement Bath & North East Somerset Council and Sirona care & health said:

“We are really pleased a sustainable future for the service has been agreed by the council which plans to provide in-house management by September 2020.

“The Community Resource Centres and Extra Care facilities are people’s homes and continuing the provision of high-quality care and support remains a priority for all of us now and during the transfer to the council.

“We will continue to work together during the notice period to ensure there is continuity of care and a smooth transition to the council for staff, residents and tenants. We are committed to keeping residents, tenants, families and staff up to date.”
