Chief Executive Appointment

By 25th April 2023No Comments

Chair of Sirona care & health Amanda Cheesley today – Tuesday 25 April – announced Sue Porto has been appointed as Chief Executive for the community health provider.

The appointment follows a nationally run competitive process which involved colleagues within Sirona, people who use our services and partners to secure a Chief Executive for the not-for-profit social enterprise.

Sue is an experienced Non-Executive Director and Chief Executive – most recently at the Brandon Trust – with experience in both the public and not-for-profit sector.

Amanda said: “I am delighted Sue has been appointed. She will bring a wealth of experience to Sirona to ensure we continue to make a real difference to people and families in our communities and tackle the huge health inequalities that exist for individuals. We are aspiring to set the benchmark of excellence in integrated health and care services for children and adults and be outstanding in everything we do, including being a great and inspiring place to work The Board is looking forward to working with Sue to achieve our goals.

“As we now plan our transition process, it is important to recognise and thank our interim Chief Executive Julie Sharma for the huge contribution she has made to Sirona over many years and who has led our organisation for the last year. She has worked tirelessly towards ensuring the foundations are in place to deliver our vision of Improved Outcomes for All.

“Sue will be starting with us in June and will be working closely with Julie on a transition and induction programme.”

Sue said: It is a privilege to be entrusted with leading such an incredible organisation, full of outstanding people, who work tirelessly to ensure people in our communities can stay happy, healthy, and well. Sirona plays an important role in the communities it serves through the delivery of vital, high-quality services that deliver real social value and impact.

I am passionate about ensuring everyone in our society can access the support they need to live their best possible lives and one where they can thrive. This is what motivated me to apply to join the Sirona team.

There are many opportunities to work in collaboration across the system, and I look forward to learning about what is already in place and how we can build on this in the future to deliver improved outcomes for all. Our role in the system is vital and particularly in ensuring we use all the resources within our communities to prevent people becoming unwell, enabling them to thrive throughout their lives.

Julie added: “This is an exciting time for a new Chief Executive to be joining Sirona.  We really are at the cusp of a new and vibrant future for community services both locally and nationally.  Sue will bring huge experience across commercial, corporate and public sector services and her knowledge and background of working with groups of people who have so often been marginalised will add to our understanding and commitment to addressing the inequalities we know exist and which form a key part of our vision for the future.”
