We have produced an animation to show parents, carers and children what to expect from health services during an Education Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA).
EHCNAs assess a child or young person’s education, health and care needs to determine what level of support they require. The assessments are carried out by Local Authorities and the short film focuses on our services which are involved in the process.
We work with families to ensure the voice of the child, or young person is central to the process.
Lorraine McMullen, Sirona’s Associate Director for Children’s Services, said: “We hope this animation will help families to understand more about EHCNAs and what information is given to local authorities to ensure the right support is in place to help children and young people reach their full potential.”
The EHCNA is carried out by the Local Authority and is the first step in the Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process.
EHCPs are made collaboratively with families and include the child or young person’s aspirations and details of the provision they need.
