We’ve received a Quality Standard Gold Award for our work experience programme to help people kickstart their NHS career.

As England’s largest provider of adult and children’s community services, the award from NHS England reflects our dedication to providing high-quality services within the community we serve.

Our Education and Development Team underwent a rigorous assessment process, demonstrating our commitment to maintaining the highest standards in work experience.

The Work Experience Quality Standard Gold Award will last for two years.

We provide valuable opportunities for people including those changing career, students and apprentices, to gain hands-on experience and develop transferable skills and offer a diverse range of career paths, from clinical and clerical roles to corporate and support positions.

Holly Langham, Education Facilitator and Lead for Career Development, said; “Receiving the Gold Quality Standard Award from NHS England is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our teams. We are committed to continuously improving our work experience programme in the community and setting the highest standards for healthcare placements. We hope our journey can inspire and guide other organisations, on their path to excellence in work experience standards.”

Keighley Hacking, Education and Development Team Manager, said; “I feel this initiative is a great way for people to be inspired to pursue a career in healthcare”. We are really enjoying supporting our learners and demonstrating our different pathways for progression.”

Dr Sonya Wallbank, Chief People & Culture Officer, said; “Our strategic ambition is for Sirona to be a great and inspiring place to be and ensuring learning and ongoing education is part of this is really important. This is a fantastic achievement on our journey towards achieving this.”

“Joining our organisation means becoming part of a dedicated group of professionals who are passionate and educated about improving the health and wellbeing of our communities.”

“Whether you’re just starting out or you’re an experienced healthcare professional eager to try something new, we offer people the chance to thrive in some of the most picturesque regions of the UK while giving back to the community they love.”

“With the support of our friendly, professional and experienced teams, people can further enhance their skills and knowledge in the rewarding field of community healthcare.”

The evaluation process involved assessing evidence across several core areas and showed we are committed to establishing a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for individuals participating in work experience.

When learners are actively engaged in their placements, we place a strong focus on the quality of their experience, including supervision and ongoing support and prioritises fostering a culture of feedback and continuous improvement, particularly during the reflection and review stages. Following their placement, there is a clear commitment to supporting participants in their future career development.
