Our annual SEND conference, which took place in November, was a huge success bringing together colleagues from different services dedicated to improving outcomes for children and young people.
Dr Tom Allport, a Consultant Paediatrician, delivered an inspiring presentation which showed the importance of community and connection when navigating SEND.
Jemima and Poppy from Murmuration received a standing ovation after sharing their personal stories and the experiences of other families whose children and young people have complex health needs.
Dr Jude Liberman offered a valuable insight into her role as an educational therapist and how she supports children and young people going through the Education Health and Care Plan assessment process. This was followed by a practical session on sleep by Ineke Woods from Cerebra.
Feedback about the event from one attendee stated: “It was really interesting to have a mixture of professionals sharing their knowledge and perspectives, combined with those with lived experience.”
This year’s event was organised by Alyson Harris, Professional Lead for SEND in Therapies at Sirona. Becci Simkin, Team Lead for Specialist Health Advisors for SEND is leading the plans for next year’s event.
