Stay well this summer: Know where to get the right NHS help

By 5th August 2026No Comments

With warm weather continuing across the summer months, people across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire are being encouraged to take simple steps to stay well and know where to go if they need NHS care.

The NHS is encouraging everyone to be prepared for common summer health issues such as sunburn, insect bites, minor injuries, hay fever, tummy bugs and dehydration. Taking simple precautions and knowing how to manage minor illnesses and injuries can help you enjoy the summer safely.

If you become unwell this summer, there are a range of NHS services available to help, including community pharmacies, NHS 111, and minor injury units and urgent treatment centres. A&E and 999 should only be used for life-threatening emergencies.

More advice on staying healthy this summer, self-care and local NHS services is available on the Stay Well This Summer web page.
