Flexibility and adaptability
Flexibility and adaptability
Flexibility describes how a person can cope with changes and think about problems in new and creative ways. Adaptability describes how a person can adjust to changing circumstances.
What is going on around you, how you are feeling and your personality all affect how flexible and adaptable you are. When people are stressed, anxious or tired they tend to be less flexible and adaptable.
Young children tend to be less flexible and adaptable. Like all skills these improve with practice and as they grow and develop.

Some children with autistic traits can find change difficult and there is more information on the National Autistic Society pages on restrictive and repetitive behaviours.
