Bladder and Bowel Service

Our Bladder and Bowel Service can support the following

• People aged 18 years and over
• Those registered with a Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire GP
• Those able to attend a clinic to be assessed
• Families, carers healthcare staff and internal/external health care staff that require advice and support for people’s continence needs
• Complex housebound individuals who have bladder and bowel problems, often in partnership with community nurses.
• We also support adults and staff who reside within Nursing and care homes. Referral information for care home professionals can be found to the right

• Lifestyle and dietary changes
• Pelvic floor exercises
• Bladder re-training
• Exercise programmes to strengthen the muscles that control the bowel
• Medication
• Appliances/equipment

Our team of specialist staff are trained and experienced in assessing and treating bladder and bowel problems. The service works to promote healthy bladder and bowel function. Where we are unable to improve bladder or bowel issues, we will support you in managing the symptoms in a way that is best for you.

This service can be accessed through your GP, who can make a referral to the service.
