
Who is this service for?
The Dermatology Service diagnoses skin conditions and offers support, education and treatment planning for people with chronic skin conditions. The team consists of GPs with Extended Roles (GPwER) in Dermatology and Dermatology Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS).
What we do
The team offers treatment for:
- Eczema
- Psoriasis
- Scabies
- Actinic keratosis
- Dry skin / itching.
The team are unable to accept referrals for patients who meet any of the criteria below:
- Patients with acne / likely to require roaccutane acne treatment
- Patients with pigmented lesions
- Patients with warts and verrucas (although advice and guidance is available)
- Patients with fast-growing lesions on lower legs
- Patients with skin cancers.

How do I access this service?
The service is available to anyone from birth upwards with a skin condition who is registered with a GP in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire. You must be referred to the service by your GP or another healthcare professional.

This service has GPs with extended roles (GPwER) in dermatology who are currently accepting referrals and are able to diagnose skin conditions, such as rashes and lesions, and perform some forms of skin surgery. Some lesions can be treated and treatment can be prescribed for chronic skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
