Speech and Language Therapy

We are a service for adults over the age of 18 with communication or swallowing difficulties related to acquired conditions. We support adults who are registered with a GP in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire who require Speech and Language Therapy at home.

We support adults who have difficulties with communication or swallowing. These difficulties may be linked to neurological conditions, respiratory illnesses, or other medical issues.

Our service includes:

• Assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for communication and swallowing difficulties.
• Working closely with other professionals (such as the Community Neuro Team) to provide joined-up care when needed.
• Appointments at home or remotely by phone or video, depending on what works best.
• Support for care homes, including advice, education, and training for staff supporting residents with swallowing difficulties.
• Encouraging self-management, giving people the skills and confidence to manage their condition, and signposting to community services and charities for longer-term support.
• Links with hospital-based speech and language therapy, so we can refer for specialist assessments (e.g. videofluoroscopy or AAC) when required.

This service can be accessed through your GP or a clinician, who can make a referral to the service.
