Our Podiatry Service has contacted people on their caseload who have not been seen in a while during August 2025, to ask if they would like to have their case reviewed.

This page explains how the service works, who is eligible, and what steps to take if you’d like to be seen again.

Our Podiatry Service is designed for people registered with a Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire GP of any age who:

• Have a foot problem, and
• Have a medical condition affecting circulation or sensation in the lower legs or feet, putting them at risk of serious complications or hospital admission.

You may be eligible if have one or more of the following:

• Wounds, ulcers, or tissue loss below the ankle.
• Suspected wound under callus.
• Diabetes at moderate, high, or active risk (as per NICE NG19).
• Feet at high risk of complications due to complex medical needs.
• Ingrown toenails causing tissue damage, requiring nail surgery (including for children aged seven and over).

We are unable to provide care for:

• Wounds above the ankle.
• Low-risk diabetes (as per NICE NG19).
• Non-infected thickened or fungal nails.
• Routine toenail cutting.
• Corns or calluses without any associated high-risk condition.

Think you meet the criteria?

Call us on 0300 124 5855 within 21 days of receiving your letter or becoming aware of this information. A clinician will review your medical history to determine if you are eligible.

Don’t want to be seen?

No problem — no need to contact us. If we don’t hear from you, we will assume you no longer wish to receive care from our service and discharge you from the caseload.

If you meet the criteria, we will get in touch to book an assessment.

If you don’t meet the criteria, we will inform your GP and send you a copy of the decision.

Foot Health Practitioners

These professionals provide routine foot care for people without complex medical conditions. They are not HCPC registered but may be members of a professional register.
