Join our Children's Specialist Lifetime team
Could you help us make a real difference to children and families in the community?
We’d love to learn more about you.
The Lifetime service is a joint Community Children’s Nursing (CCN) and Psychology service providing nursing care to children and young people up to the age of 18 years with a life limiting or life threatening condition (non-malignant).
Our CCN’s and Psychologists work across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG) providing a service to children, young people and their families. We also work closely with the multi-professional team who support the child and family which includes providing training to a wide variety of professionals to enable the child to access nursery, schools and short breaks.
Some of the children and young people who are technology dependent have Lifetime Support Workers who provide care in the child and families’ own home.

”I feel honoured to be a part of our special children's lives. Knowing that we make a huge difference to the parents so they get some much needed rest, safe in the knowledge that their child is being cared for is an enormous privilege.Ally
”I am in awe of the children I care for and the families I support. I hope that my small part in their sometimes short lives has made a difference to their quality of life. They have certainly made a difference to mine.
I feel privileged to have been accepted into their homes, it’s not just a job, I have been doing this for 8 years and wish I had found it years ago.Lizzie
”The role of Community Children’s Nurse Team Leader offers a unique and exciting career progression pathway for Community Children’s Nurses looking for the next new challenging step.
You will have an incredibly rewarding opportunity to manage and lead an already positive, passionate and well regarded team, helping to further fulfil the potential of a friendly team through clinical training, professional leadership and the creation and implementation of new ideas and ways of working to allow the team to flourish.Becky
”I am new to Lifetime and I can say that I have been welcomed and really well supported by a very friendly team. Even though I had relatively little nursing experience, the training has been so thorough and I have learnt so much.
The children we work with are amazing, and at the end of each shift I feel that I have made a small yet essential contribution to their health and well-being, and provided some much needed rest to their families.Megan
”My role as a Community Children’s Nurse within Sirona has given me great opportunities to develop my clinical skills. Working for the Lifetime Service, I am proud to be able to help to keep children at home, whenever possible. I know my role helps to keep children and their families together and this gives me great job satisfaction.
I also love the variety from working with key community links such as partner organisations, schools, commissioners and of course, our multi professional team. In this role I also love the great work / life balance as I no longer work nights or weekends so I get to spend time with my family and friends too!Hannah
