Health and care providers across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire make up nearly half of the finalists in the South West Health Education England Star Awards 2018.
The NHS HEE Awards recognise the best in education and training across the sector in the region and Bristol Clinical Commissioning Group, North Bristol NHS Trust, North Somerset Community Partnership, Sirona care & health, University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust have all been shortlisted.
Innovation ranges from a “Bag of Calm” created by a South Gloucestershire mum to help youngsters with autism, to individuals passionate about education, training and learning at Bristol Royal Infirmary and Southmead Hospital and involving people in the community in the care provided across Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
Between them they have made the shortlist for the following categories Inspiring Educator, Education and Training Team of the Year, Hearing the Patient Voice, Innovation Champion, Intermediate Apprentice of the Year and Advanced Apprentice of the Year.
HEE describe the awards as “celebrating individuals or teams providing health care or public health services for NHS patients and service users in NHS trusts, general practice, local authority, education and independent or private settings including those providing pharmacy, dental and optometry services.”
The five local organisations are part of Healthier Together, the BNSSG Sustainability and Transformation Partnership, which is working together to make health and care services fit for the future.

The award ceremony for the Star Awards takes place at Somerset County Cricket Club in Taunton on 6 March.
